Expensive Irrelevance?

While the Middle East erupts, and other conflicts simmer, and nuclear waste leaks, and Christians are persecuted, the Episcopal Church convened a meeting of over 200 General Convention delegates to discuss: same sex commitment liturgies. The expense must have been vast–and dubious, given the foregone nature of the conclusion. Surely there will be such liturgies passed, and by that time, there will be an additional demand that same sex relationships be treated the same as straight marriages. The result will be that virtually the same liturgies will be used for both sorts of commitments and same sex liturgies will be abandoned.

Meanwhile, the real world has moved on to other worries. —J. Douglas Ousley
