Christ for Smart People

The Pope’s new book, Jesus of Nazareth: Holy Week is a masterful combination of scholarship and spiritual literature. He absorbs the historical and scientific evidence and incorporates it into what he acknowledges is a faithful and faith-filled vision. And Benedict does this without watering down the intellectual challenges or fudging them or avoiding them. It’s very hard to pick holes in his arguments, and yet the writing is so clear and accessible that no one could claim that the arguments were incomprehensible.
