What’s happening at Incarnation

Join our email list to receive weekly updates, spiritual reflections, and access information for offerings held via Zoom. Here are a few highlights!

Ecclesia Ministries

Every third Sunday of the month, parishioners are invited to the Parish Dining Room at 12:30 pm to help make sandwiches and pack lunches for Ecclesia Ministries of New York, which serves those who are food and housing insecure.

The Rev. Deacon Denise LaVetty serves an Ecclesia congregation that currently worships in the courtyard of Church of the Transfiguration (29th Street, between 5th and Madison) every Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Parishioners are also invited to attend this 2:00 pm service of Holy Eucharist and then distribute the lunches.

"The Heart of Christianity"

Join us Wednesdays, January 24 through March 13, 7:00 to 8:00 pm for “The Heart of Christianity: On Falling in Love with God.” What is the “heart” of Christianity? In this new series, we will explore the essential beliefs of the Christian faith, focusing on the one truth that unites all others: God is love. Over the course of eight weeks, we will think about how the picture of God as love grounds our understanding of the Trinity, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and various aspects of our life together as Christians. Classes will be held on eight consecutive Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Parish House. Participants also have the option to join by Zoom.

Email the Rev. Dr. Nate Lee to learn more and register for remaining classes.

Family Friday: Painting the Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross, also known as the “Way of the Cross,” depict 14 scenes from the last events of Christ’s life. Children and parents are invited to the Assembly Hall “turned art studio” on Friday, February 23, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, to create a new set of Stations to display in the church. A pizza dinner will be provided. RSVP to Rev. Adrian Dannhauser.

If your family cannot come on February 23, we are happy to provide art supplies for your child(ren) to create a Station in advance.

Diocesan Listening Session

The “Diocesan Mission Review Listening Session” (for Lay Leaders) in our Midtown Manhattan Clericus will take place on Tuesday, March 5, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. You are most welcome to join the parish for Evensong beforehand at 5:30 p.m. Entrance to the listening session will be through the Parish House on 1 W 53rd St. Light refreshments will be provided. Asian Sacred Music Concert

Our parish is very excited to host the Asian Sacred Music Concert of the Episcopal Diocese of New York on Monday, March 11, at 6:00 pm. Please join us for beautiful music in support of an important cause. The concert is a celebration of Asian-American Musicians in the Episcopal-Anglican Church, Asian-American composers and the World Premiere of a new hymn. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by clicking here. Proceeds help support the Li Tim-Oi Celebration Service in May and the Asian missions of the diocese.

Lenten Forum: "A Minister of God's Grace"

What does grace mean? Do people take God’s grace for granted? What are the things that we can do to let people know and experience God’s grace? What kind of “minister” are you or can you be with the God-given abilities you have?

Ten Incarnation members were asked these questions and others. Their answers will be shared during this unique and creative forum on Sunday, March 10, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm! Please join us in the Assembly Hall and experience some exciting exchanges of deep and beautiful insight.

Rector Installation and Confirmation Sunday

On Sunday, March 17, we welcome the Rt. Rev. Matthew Heyd, 17th Bishop of the Diocese of New York, to preach and celebrate the Eucharist at our principal worship service. Bishop Heyd will be installing the Rev. Adrian Dannhauser as Rector that day, as well as confirming members of the 2024 Confirmation Class. In honor of Adrian, our confirmands, and our visiting Bishop, we’ll have a special reception at Coffee Hour.

Bishop Heyd will also be joining us for our Ecclesia lunch packing project in the dining room and for the Ecclesia worship service at Church of the Transfiguration.

March "Third Thursday"

Join us in the Assembly Hall on Thursday, March 21, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm for a special Third Thursday presentation. At each celebration of the Eucharist, we pray these words: “And here we offer and present unto thee, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies to be a reasonable holy and living sacrifice unto thee.” As we move through Lent and approach Holy Week, we will explore together what these words mean–how we can worship with both “soul and body”–through some creative and contemplative exercises. Light refreshments will be provided.

Submissions in writing or video recording (up to 2 minutes) are welcome. Thank you for helping us “encourage one another and build each other up” as the Body of Christ. (1 Thess. 5:11).
