What’s happening at Incarnation

Join our email list to receive weekly updates, spiritual reflections, and access information for offerings held via Zoom. Here are a few highlights!

Ecclesia Ministries

Every third Sunday of the month, parishioners are invited to the Parish Dining Room at 12:30 pm to help make sandwiches and pack lunches for Ecclesia Ministries of New York, which serves those who are food and housing insecure.

The Rev. Deacon Denise LaVetty serves an Ecclesia congregation that currently worships in the courtyard of Church of the Transfiguration (29th Street, between 5th and Madison) every Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Parishioners are also invited to attend this 2:00 pm service of Holy Eucharist and then distribute the lunches.

Eastertide Sermon Talkbacks

Throughout the Easter season, we are bringing back our ever-popular “Sermon Talkbacks.” So, on each of these Sundays, grab your coffee and join the preacher of the day in the Parish Living Room from 12:30 to 1:15 pm for a discussion about the sermon.

The “post-resurrection” appearances of Jesus that are featured during the Easter lectionary are some of the most important passages of the New Testament, and yet also, some of the most misunderstood. They’re sure to provide food fodder for interesting discussions! We look forward to your questions, feedback, and any other ways you can help us all to deepen the conversation that the sermon has only just begun.

Eastertide Dance Party!

Join us on Thursday, April 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm for a dance party! Scripture often talks about dancing as a way of showing our joy before the Lord (Cf. Ecclesiastes 3:4; Lamentations 5:15; Psalm 149:3). So, come the Assembly Hall for a night to remember. We’ll have some food, some music, and lots of time to mingle. This will be a totally “no judgment” space, so no matter what your skill level, we invite you to let loose and be free!

Mothers of Bedford

Our parish supports the collaboration between Incarnation Camp and our partner in mission, Hour Children. Over the past few years, Incarnation Camp has enabled kids from Hour Children to attend camp free of charge, and parishioners have generously contributed toward the cost of tuition.

Join us on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30 pm for an exclusive evening of cinema and discussion with the screening of the powerful documentary, Mothers of Bedford, followed by a Q&A session with the director, Jenifer McShane, an Incarnation Camp alumna. This event not only showcases an important social issue—motherhood in prison—but also supports a meaningful cause. All proceeds will support Incarnation Camp scholarships, including for children of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women through Hour Children.

A catered reception begins at 6:00 pm. Cost is $50 per person, and you can register here.

Ice Cream Social and Afternoon Tea

All are invited to the Parish House on Saturday, May 4, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, for a time of fellowship and an update on Incarnation’s Common Chord capital campaign for restoration of the organ. We’ll have tea party classics, from scones to sandwiches, and all the fixings for ice cream sundaes. We hope everyone who loves Incarnation will participate in the campaign and join us for the festivities!

20s/30s Midtown Rooftop Gathering

A member of Incarnation’s 20s/30s Group has offered the rooftop of their apartment building for young adults to gather for some springtime fellowship on Sunday, May 5, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. There will be food and some themed activities. RSVP to the Rev. Dr. Nate Lee. We look forward to seeing you then!

Spiritual Tips and Biblical Reflections

We are collecting spiritual tips and reflections on Scripture from members and friends of the parish. If you have a favorite prayer practice, devotional book, Bible verse or other source of spiritual nourishment, contact the clergy to share it with the larger Incarnation community. Submissions in writing or video recording (up to 2 minutes) are welcome. Thank you for helping us “encourage one another and build each other up” as the Body of Christ. (1 Thess. 5:11).
