E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF MAY 4 – MAY 11, 2008

Next Sunday, the church celebrates Pentecost (Acts 2).  The stained glass piece above depicts symbols of this feast, a dove and flames, which represent the manifestation and gift of the Holy Spirit.  When those gathered together received the Holy Spirit, they were able to proclaim the gospel in new tongues so that all could understand.

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (BCP 227)
