E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF MARCH 2 - MARCH 9, 2008

Observing Lent: Praying

At this afternoon's Lenten lecture on "Simplifying your Prayer Life," the Rector highlighted all the forms of prayer diagramed above as parts of an inclusive prayer life.  He also included contemplation.  The season of Lent is particularly suited for contemplation and confession.  A simple prayer of confession, that when repeated can be meditative, is the Jesus prayer:

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
