E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF SEPT. 16 – SEPT. 23, 2007

This week the church remembers Hildegard, Abbess of Bingen and Mystic, 1179.

Hildegard receiving a vision.

God of all times and seasons: Give us grace that we, after the example of your servant Hildegard, may both know and make known the joy and jubilation of being part of your creation, and show forth your glory not only with our lips but in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

THIS WEEK AT INCARNATION

Tuesday, September 18           7:00 p.m. Twenties and Thirties' Drinks and Discussion. Come to the Parish House (209 Madison Avenue) and we'll walk to a local bar to discuss "A Wandering Aramean was my Ancestor (Deut. 26:6): Biblical Ethics and Immigration."

The ancient Israelites were commanded to welcome the resident alien, for the Israelites themselves had been aliens in Egypt. Does this injunction have any parallels in the current debate over immigration policy in the U.S., a country founded by immigrants?
