E-MINDER: the Church of the Incarnation

THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 9 – SEPTEMBER 16, 2007

On September 14, the church celebrates Holy Cross Day.

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.

COMING UP AT INCARNATION

Tuesday, September 18           7:00 p.m. Twenties and Thirties’ Drinks and Discussion. Come to the Parish House (209 Madison Avenue) and we’ll walk to a local bar to discuss “A Wandering Aramean was my Ancestor (Deut. 26:6): Biblical Ethics and Immigration.”

The ancient Israelites were commanded to welcome the resident alien, for the Israelites themselves had been aliens in Egypt. Does this injunction have any parallels in the current debate over immigration policy in the U.S., a country founded by immigrants?

Be well.
